Everybody is different and which trike fits you best will come down to your specific needs. We have 6 models of trike so there is sure to be an ICE Trike which works for you. If you can, the best thing you can do is test ride some different trikes at a local recumbent dealer to find out what you like and what you don’t. You can find out more information about our different models by following the links here: https://www.icetrikes.co/products/ice-recumbent-trike-range and, when you are ready to take the next step, you can find your closest ICE Trikes dealer here: https://www.icetrikes.co/dealers
Yes, we are tucked away in the South West corner of the UK in Falmouth, Cornwall so it’s a long trek for most people but we welcome trike enthusiasts to come in and meet the team and test ride trikes! Please get in touch in advance to make sure there will be someone available to show you around and set you up on our trikes. Contact us here to get booked in! https://www.icetrikes.co/contact?view=article&id=339:contact-us&catid=2
Please contact your dealer for timelines on your trike delivery, our team will provide the dealer with tracking information as soon as the trike leaves here so they can book your trike into their workshop schedule to get it built and ready for you to collect.
No, because our trikes are not specifically designed for use only by people with disabilities, they work for everyone, they are not eligible for VAT relief.
It is possible in some countries, but it is not recommended if you have a local ICE dealer. The pricing would be the same whether you order directly or through your dealer and ordering through the dealer has many advantages. The dealer will work with the shipping company and customs in your country to get the trike delivered, they will do the assembly work for you and set up the trike to your size, they will be there to support you with any issues you might have down the road and they have a wealth of knowledge and experience to help you make the right choices and get the perfect trike for you!
This varies by country, its best to get in touch with our sales team here and we can work with you to calculate costs and shipping times: https://www.icetrikes.co/contact/general-enquiry
The first step is either to contact your local dealer where you purchased the trike or, if you have moved away from the dealer or bought your trike directly from ICE or second hand from a previous owner, use the contact form here to contact us directly for help: https://www.icetrikes.co/contact/after-sales-enquiry Please make sure to include clear photos of the issue and your trike’s frame number to help our team get you a speedy resolution.
Our 10 year transferrable warranty is industry leading, you can read the full details of the warranty here: https://www.icetrikes.co/index.php?option=com_edocman&view=document&layout=viewpdf&id=130&documenturl=d9e614701ed5d3fdda093642f58cd391.pdf&tmpl=component
FAQs - TECHNICAL
We do not offer a longer bracket for the back of the seat and its not something we will be looking to implement. I do not recommend you look at making a custom bracket either. There are two big issues with making the seat significantly more upright
- Compatibility: The front edge of the seat and the steering start trying to occupy the same space.
- Ergonomics: With the seat much more upright but no other changes to the trike you end up with a very closed hip angle and the rider will have their knees coming into their stomach and chest as they pedal, any rider who is not super skinny would have to push their knees out to the side, pedalling bow legged, to allow them to pedal and that is going to cause knee issues very quickly as knees aren’t built for forces to go through them when they are positioned like that.
To make a much more upright trike you would need to redesign the trike around that seating position to make it work properly.
No, we don’t offer an extension to raise the hand position and we don’t recommend dealers or customers come up with their own solution for this, this is one downside with the seat riser along with reduced stability. Longer handlebars would have more leverage on the steering components and the frame and would likely lead to failure of these parts.
We are not able to supply a motor retrofit, our contract with Shimano prevents us from selling the motor system outside of a complete trike.
It is possible for an ICE dealer or a local electric bike specialist to fit a motor to your trike though. There are a number of systems which are designed for retrofitting from companies like Bafang and Tongsheng which can fit to your existing boom or in place of your rear wheel.
The number one thing we would recommend when choosing a motor system is to go with the one the person fitting it has experience with. i.e. If they know Bafang systems well, choose a Bafang system as they will be able to do a better job on the fitting.
We don’t supply replacement keys directly but they can be ordered through the lock manufacturer AXA. Their key service gives the customer access to replacement keys using the key number which can be found on the bottom of the battery mount, under the lock: https://keyservice.axasecurity.com/
The front mudguards from a current trike will fit your machine, you need the rigid ones, item number 00049, the rear mudguard mounting is different, the anodised silver curved back end on your trike has different mudguard mounting locations compared to a current machine, we can supply our 20” rear mudguard, item 00050 with the mudguard stays unbent and uncut so you can bend and cut them yourself to fit your back end, please request this when ordering.
Yes, we don’t do it often but we can offer our trikes with or without any of the parts you need if you want to make the trike your own or work with your dealer to build up a custom specification that’s perfect for your needs. The way to do this is by filling in a full configuration for your model of choice, choosing your frame setup including suspension and wheel sizes and the closest options to what you will be fitting and then sending that through to our team, including in the comments which parts you don’t need. We can then make up a custom quote with the parts you don’t need removed. https://config.icetrikes.co/#tag-0
This is not something we offer as we find it to be unsafe. The rear brake can easily lock up under hard braking as the rear wheel is unweighted, this can lead to the trike and rider turning sideways and rolling over. Where the rider has use of both hands, its best to use a separate brake for each front wheel for maximum control and braking power.
Not at the moment, initially all of our resources for the CIXI PERS chainless drive system are allocated to complete new trike orders, we may be able to add the option for a retrofit in the future but we do not currently have a timeline on that becoming available.
The Full Fat is not available with front suspension because it does not improve the trike, the Road Response Front Suspension system we use on our Sprint X and Adventure models was designed to take small bumps and vibrations out of the ride to make the ride quality on roads better with harder tyres. The Full Fat’s 4” wide tyres do this themselves so there is not much advantage to the front suspension but there are some disadvantages to it being fitted, mostly in poorer handling due to raising the front end of the trike and adding more flex/movement.
It is possible to swap from the Air Pro hardshell to Ergo Luxe and Ergo Flow mesh seats or vice versa but its not a “hot swap”. The Air Pro seat mounting system requires the trike to be extended so when the change is made between the seats the back end length has to be adjusted and the chain length and cables to the rear of the trike need to be changed, its roughly a couple of hours work to do the swap each time. Please speak to your local ICE dealer for pricing on a new seat pack if you would like to make that change.
Its likely we have an option in our current line up to work on an older ICE trike, other than very early hardshell seat models such as the Micro and Monster which used a different mounting system. Send our Customer Support team an email here with photos of your trike and we can tell you what options fit your trike, usually its possible to get just a seat cover or a complete seat with the frame and cover for most older ICE trikes. https://www.icetrikes.co/contact/general-enquiry
This is normal, when there is a rider on the trike the suspension will compress and lift the chain up off of the keeper. If it still does it while riding it could be a sign of the elastomer setup being too hard for the rider weight.
