The Invictus Games took place from the 16th to the 22nd April 2022, where over 500 competitors from 20 nations around the world competed in adaptive sports events for the whole week. The opening ceremony was officially opened by The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Teams arrived on stage from all competing nations in including team Ukraine which was given a rousing standing ovation from the packed crowd. The Duke and duchess both gave emotional speeches which was then followed by music from the Kaiser Cheifs. The games now officially open begin 7 days of different sporting events, with all cycling events taking place on the last day of the games.

The word ‘invictus’ means ‘unconquered’. It embodies the fighting spirit of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and personifies what these tenacious men and women can achieve post-injury. The Games harness the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who serve their country. The people of the Hague gave a friendly and warm welcome to all competing nations and to team ICE.

During the week ICE were on hand to give expert advice and technical assistance to any trike riders competing in the cycling events in the time trials, criterium and women and men's races. ICE were able to help team UK and team Australia with last-minute on-site tune-ups to their trikes and even supply team Italy with an ICE VTX trike for the cycling events.

During the week many visitors, competitors and special guests from all nations came to try a trike. Including Joanna, the ambassador and Lucy the deputy ambassador to the Netherlands, team UK captain Rach, UK Secretary of State for Defence, Rt. Hon Ben Wallace to name but a few.

BBC TV presenters JJ Chalmers and Alex Jones from The One Show and Invictus TV Games coverage came to take two trikes out for a spin. Having won gold riding his trike in the 2014 Invictus Games, JJ gave Alex a quick lesson on riding an ICE trike and before you knew it they were off for a lap around the park. Alex did have the advantage though as she was riding the Sprint X Tour with electric assist. 

ICE trikes and their riders took home a wealth of medals during the games with Carlo Calcagni winning gold for team Italy, closely followed by silver for Gregory Quarles from the USA, both riders riding ICE VTX trikes. Team UK's Daniel Tasker was in fourth place riding his ICE Sprint X.

In the women's events, Australia's Kerrie Tessier won gold on her VTX and bronze went to Team UK's Victoria Wales riding her Sprint. Team UK's Denise Kidger came in a valiant fourth place on her ICE Sprint trike to a rousing roar from the crowd with congratulations and hugs from fellow competitors Kerrie and Victoria as she crossed the finish line.
